Handmade Black Bean Slimline Twist Pen – Ethically Sourced Australian Timber
$59.95
Available
Hand-turned from Australian Black Bean, a striking Queensland rainforest timber known for its rich chocolate-brown colour and dramatic dark streaking. Each pen is finished to a glass-smooth shine and fitted with a smooth twist-action mechanism.
This timber carries a story. It was grown on a family-owned farm just west of Byron Bay, New South Wales, planted more than 30 years ago and harvested by hand. I collected every piece of this timber from that farm myself, so each pen is made from genuinely traceable, ethically sourced Australian native timber.
Because Black Bean is a natural material and each pen is individually hand-turned, the grain and colour of your pen can vary significantly. Every piece is one of a kind.
Choose your hardware finish: black chrome or gold.
• Approx. 130 mm long
• Twist-action ballpoint

About the timber
Black Bean (Castanospermum australe)
A little about the timber: Black Bean, also known as the Moreton Bay Chestnut, is a rainforest timber native to the east coast of Queensland and northern New South Wales. It's prized for its rich chocolate-brown colour, often deepening to almost black and marked with dramatic lighter streaking. A walnut-like hardwood of medium density (specific gravity around 0.62, Janka hardness roughly 7.5 kN), it's long been valued for fine furniture and turnery, and finishes to a genuinely eye-catching result.
A note on materials
Every piece has its own grain.
Timber colour, grain, and figure naturally vary. The piece you receive will share the listed material and design, but it will not be visually identical to every photograph. Natural variation is not a defect, and change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Shipping & returns
